Project Development is involved in creating a hypothetical offshore wind farm. They have to take into account cost, marine and avian wildlife, along with the ecosystem. They were assigned a plot of sea in the Coast of Oregon to work with. In the plot, and oil pipe runs by it so figuring out anchor designs and placements is challenging.
Turbine Design is the brains of our team. They design, fabricate, and manufacture the wind turbine that is to be used at contest. from creating the Nacelle, to choosing an appropriate motor, to 3D printing the blades, they have created and got over the challenges that come from building a wind turbine.
Outreach Team keeps out club and the Senior Design project strong! From recruiting new members, especially underclassmen, to going to local elementary schools to teach about wind energy, they have done a lot of educate the community.
